Why is the dieting world a catastrophic failure?

I mean at the very least it’s been selling diets to people for more than 70 years and in that time being overweight or obese is literally more socially acceptable than being healthy or in shape, heart disease has skyrocketed, type 2 diabetes has sky rocketed – not just in adults but it’s huge among kids now and all of the chronic degenerative diseases are a dime a dozen (cancer is now 1 in every 2 people, terrifying!).

Since being overweight or obese is the number 1 precursor to disease, I’d say that the dieting world has dramatically failed.

The question is WHY?

Well, the good thing is that I’m one of the few nutritionists out there that believes healthy weight loss, abundant energy levels and simply being happy in your own skin is not primarily about the food.

It’s the missing piece from all the diets you’ve tried up until now…

Your emotions.

What Has It Got To Do With Your Feelings?

I know I know, eye roll! Ergh. “feelings”. What I’ve learned after working in hospitals, with elite athletes and my own nutrition clients is that for almost anyone that is looking into diets for whatever their reason, that there is never a piece of food that passes a person’s lips that isn’t primarily driven by their emotions and not actually hunger. Shocking right? It’s why inside the program we have a Hunger Myth module helping you learn to rewire your food patterns.

Most diets tell you to rely on willpower. However, willpower comes from the conscious brain which only makes up 5% of our mind, meaning it’s a finite resource that runs out quickly.

Ever tried never having chocolate again, did it work out? Yeah, me neither.

Willpower doesn’t work either, I know you know that! Instead what needs to happen is rewiring all of our seemingly automated behaviours and responses that live inside the subconscious mind, the other 95% – unlocking this part of the brain is where true transformation happens, but you have to be willing to go there and do the work to get the weight loss results you want.

So, this is why all the diets you’ve tried have in the long run, failed. It’s never really been about restricting any food group, or calories. It’s about understanding and managing the emotions that drive your unhelpful habits and behaviours.
